Lucy Lightbringer (formerly Brushgather)
Luc y grew up in a standard lightfoot Halfling blooded human way, travelling. Well standard from her viewpoint anyway, for that’s the only one she knew. Her family was part of a nomadic group, or larger family. They travelled across the plains of Arcanos, selling wares, livestock and the like. Her father was a painter and her mother helped raise animals for food and clothing. They didn’t have much, but then again they didn’t need much.
Everything changed that day though, that horrible glorious day. Lucy and her extended family were nearing a settlement when it happened. They could hear the shouting from the village, raiders! Lucy and her family had no choice at all really; they needed to help those in need, so off they ran. As they entered the town the strangest thing happened, well not really, not the strangest thing by a mile, but the shadows seemed to grow through the city, and then began to move on their own! The shadows were alive! The darkness would reach out at the villagers, and now at Lucy and her family. Then he appeared. The shadow man…He controlled the darkness, he laughed as a shadow dragged a villager screaming into darkness, then his laughing stopped…Out of nowhere there was a spark, of what only the shadow man knew at the time, he vanished just as the spark light up the sky, bright as Sola itself. The shadows vanquished by the power of the light. Her family and the villagers recovered from their shock and awe, the light was still there, right next to Lucy. Then something even stranger happened, the light spoke, well it seemed to speak, to Lucy at least.
It said its name is Lumi and it was there to guide and protect Lucy. Of course, only Lucy heard this, but her family and villagers, rather than be dismayed by Lucy’s hearing imaginary voices, could only believe her after all this ball of light just saved them. Lucy now felt the calling of The Light, she knew she needed to travel and bring The Light to wherever there was darkness. She said her goodbyes to her family, with the promise to see them again.
Lucy began her travels with Lumi as her only company. Lumi would continue to talk with Lucy, and Lucy would of course converse with Lumi. While some of the common folk have heard of Lucy, not everyone loves her, some think shes crazy (talking to a glowing ball of light) while others might take pity on her, but rarely does one want to cause her harm.
Lucy, for her part, does everything she can to bring The Light and light, everywhere she goes. Is there a dark corner in that tavern, nothing a Light spell can’t handle (for a few minutes at least), Lucy is trying to come up with a more permanent way to lighten up the world. And that’s part of the reason she investigates all the strange occurrences. She is hoping to reconnect Lumi with the larger luminescence and bring The Light to Arcanos.
