I am Cade Blackholt, but most do not know me by that name, I am usually just Fox. This is my story.
As a wood elf blooded human, being one with nature has always been second nature to Cade, but even as a child he spent more time among the animals and trees than with the children of his village. While his parents were always more in line with their human blood Cade could always feel the wild calling in my veins. This became apparent when one day during his 10th year when out in the forest a silver fox walked up to me, then turned into a man. He said his name was Kamahl, and that he had been watching Cade and sensed that he had the gift of the wild shapers. He requested that Cade lead him to his parents so he could request to take me with him to train him in the arts of the wild.
When Cade's parents heard what he had to say they were completely aghast. No son of theirs would have anything to do with a crazy cult that lived in the forest. They told him to leave and not to bother them again, which he did. An angry Cade was sent to his room. A few years passed while Cade's parents kept a close eye on him, not allowing him to spend time away from the village, but Cade never forgot about what Kahmal had told him. Around Cades 15th year anniversary, he finally had a plan in place to run away, just hoping to find the man that called himself a Druid of the Moon. One night he slipped out of the house as he had practiced many times in preparation, making sure to be as silent as the moon light.
Cade traveled into the forest, re-tracing his steps as best he could remember from that day years ago. as he found his way into the clearing, there was the silver fox, waiting for him as if he knew Cade was coming this night. It then turned and walked into the forest and Cade followed it. They traveled in silence through out the night, and just as the Sola's rays were starting to peak through the branches they stopped at a small gathering of huts. Kahmal shifted into human form and explained that this was his Circle, a place where a group of Druids gathered and that Cade was now one of them.
Cade spent the next few years learning the ways of the Druids of the Moon, how to take the shape of the animals of the wilds and embody their power and grace. While Cade could change into many animals he always seemed more comfortable in the form of a fox. On the day that Cade was graduated as a full initiate of the circle Kahmal presented him with a peice of bark from an Iron Oak tree, carved into the shape of a fox, saying "This totem has been created for you, carved from the bark of the oldest tree in this forest. May the spirit of the fox ever watch over you and keep you safe. This is now your totem, it marks you as a Druid of the Moon, always keep it near."
Sometime near Cade's 25th year, as he was out in animal form with his mentor Kahmal, they were ambushed by hunters. An arrow found its way into Cade's leg, and he fell to the unexpected pain. Kahmal stood over Cade, Shifting back into human form, to call off the hunters, and Cade could only sit there frozen. Then the hunters opened fire on Kahmal shouting "I wonder how much the skin of a magic beast will bring us!" Kahmal quickly leant down and laid a hand on Cade's leg healing the wound and told him to run and hide, then shifted into a bear to take on the hunters. Cade ran, looking back as the hunters kept firing on his mentor, hearing his primal roars. Cade knew this meant to keep running so he did and never looked back.
Cade returned to his tribe to find them consorting with a mysterious man whose face is hidden inside his cloak.
Cade crept in close and realized that the circle was in league with him and that they intentionally had his master slain. Cade was suppose to die with him.
Cade stepped in closer to hear more, when suddenly the man in the cloak whirled on him. His face looked like that of a tiger, his eyes were pools of yellow molten fire. Cade was stunned, frozen in fear as the man started to cast a spell. Something about him was so terrifying. He was nearing completion of his casting when a timber wolf(no, maybe a silver fox?) leapt in from the side. The two started battling and Cade heard a voice in his head urging him to flee. Trees began animating in the area, their faces turning into frightful visages, their branches into claws, and they start stalking inward.
Cade turned and quickly darted between the trees and ran for what seemed like hours. He was now completely alone, no one to turn to, no one to guide him. Lost in a haze he absently mindedly wandered into a nearby town.
